Committee Chairs from a large number of countries at the 2004 United World Youth Council, held at Radley School, used the first version of Tooncards to help overcome language barriers when discussing and agreeing Ground Rules with their committee members. The Delegates at this event included young people from nations recently or currently in conflict. A primary aim of the event was to facilitate understanding, communication and mutual respect between young people around the world.

" I told the children we would be using the cards again next session to think about their goals and they were very keen, they said: " The cards help you to understand better, people like to look at pictures as some new words are hard to understand and it gives you a picture in your head for next time." ... The class teacher said the children came back 'buzzing & the session had been great fun!' ." (Karen Lamb, SENCO, Stirchley Primary School)

"The session plans were extremely helpful, especially since
I had little time to devote to planning the whole session. ...The cards
were well-received, so much so that the manager of the team used all
those that had been allocated to the team to sum up the session at the
end." (Darren Hockaday, HR Manager)
Tooncards have also been used with international groups in UK, Russia and Ukraine:
"The cards worked well and certainly open up lots of debate. ... the air was cleared on numerous issues " (Bruce Robinson - Management Training Consultant)
"Selection encompasses a wide variety of
emotions and feelings which students were able to relate to ...
Fantastic to use in a wide variety of games - happy faces - me and my
friends - my emotions in a week and so on. Glad I took them and they
went down well with the Russian facilitators. " (Frank Grant -
Trainer and Therapist)
